Vero's business excellence programme is based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. The Baldrige criteria is an international best practice framework oriented towards commercial success rather than esoteric principles. Factors affecting performance excellence such as customer service, employee engagement, future-looking strategies and excellent financials are used to determine the level of achievement. In New Zealand, the Baldrige Framework is supported by the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation.
After setting out on the Baldrige journey in 1995, Vero New Zealand was awarded the Bronze award in 1998 and Silver level in 2004. These awards strengthened and reinforced the commitment of Vero New Zealand staff and management to strike for Gold. This effort culminated on 21st November 2008 when Vero New Zealand Chief Executive Roger Bell proudly accepted the award of Gold level from the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation.
The Gold award distinguishes Vero New Zealand as a World-Class company, one of only two from New Zealand to currently hold the honour.
